Chocolate Yogurt Fruit Dip

Recipe developed by Brooke Bulloch, RD and mom.
For families on-the-go, snacks can play an important role in fueling children, teens, and adults. Scheduled snacks (not to be confused with continuous grazing) are important for a few reasons:
1) Snacks help to maintain energy levels and mental stamina between meals;
2) They may help to curb late-night food cravings. When people don't consume enough carbohydrates or overall energy in the day, it's common to search for satisfaction later in the evening to make up for energy or satisfaction missed earlier;
3) Snacks can boost intake of important health-promoting nutrients like fibre – many Canadians are not getting enough fibre in their diet.
Fruit makes such a convenient, energizing and fibre-rich snack. However, on its own it can leave us feeling unfulfilled. I like to add a source of fat and protein to my fruit snacks for ultimate satisfaction and lasting energy. This Greek yogurt dip does just that by adding protein and fat along with other key nutrients such as calcium, B12, and potassium.

Ingredients
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (I used on with 4% milk fat)
2 tbsp + 1 tsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp + 1 tsp maple syrup
2 tsp vanilla extract
Mix well (like mix and mix and mix to smoothe out all the cocoa powder clumps). Serve cold.
