Blueberry Basil Smoothie

I've been wanting to play around with blueberries and basil for awhile now and the timing is perfect because my basil is thriving and I have a lot of it! I am so excited about how nicely the basil compliments the blueberries, and you gotta love the colour! It's light and refreshing and loaded with antioxidants. With an impressive 16g of high quality protein (both from dairy yogurt and soy milk), this smoothie makes a great post workout recovery or afternoon snack on a hot day.

Ingredients (single serving)

1/3 of a frozen banana

1 cup frozen blueberries (using frozen fruit to make this beverage cold and thick)

1/4 cup fresh basil

1/4 cup plain 2% Greek yogurt

1 tbsp hemp hearts

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup regular Soy beverage (could use unsweetened soy milk for less sugar and carbohydrates but it'll likely change the taste)

Directions

Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend very well until it's lump free and a uniform colour. Optional to top with fresh blueberries and hemp hearts.

Enjoy!
